Palm Sunday was celebrated again this year as an Ecumenical Service at Southwell Minster. The service began with the joint congregations gathering at 10:30 at Our Lady of Victories for the blessing of the palms and the First Gospel reading. We processed with the Minster Choir and Peter the donkey to the Minster where we listened to the beautifully sung Passion of our Lord. Mass was celebrated in the Chapter House.

Parish BBQ on Sunday the 8th of July was a great success. Over 70 parisioners gathered together in the Grotto Garden at Our Lady of Victories to enjoy the sunshine and the good food after Mass. A beg "thankyou" goes out to the organisers, the team who prepared the food, and everyone who helped tidy up afterwards.
All pensioners, of all faiths or none, are welcome to attend this monthly event held in the Parish Centre at OLV, Southwell. For more information please contact the Parish Office by phone (01636 812686) or email.

Mary's Meals feeds over three quarters of a million children every school day in 16 countries. The idea is simple. They provide one daily meal to chronically poor children in a classroom environment and this enables the children to receive an education which can set them up for a better future. It costs £12.20 to feed a child for a year. You can pick of a donation box or Direct Debit form at the back of both churches. You can find Mary's Meals at: www.marysmeals.org.uk
The The Poor Clare monastic community in Bulwell, Nottingham is part of the prayer life of our own parish community. As the sisters live a life of enclosure, contemplation and prayer we support them through our own prayers, by purchasing some of their produce (such as jam), providing them with raw materials for their knitting, and financially. In return we receive their prayers. You can find details concerning vocations and the life of the Poor Clares at: http://www.poorclaresnottingham.org.uk/
Repository - The Poor Clares have a large repository with books, bibles, First Communion dresses, Confirmation gifts, and cards. It is open during normal church opening hours.

We meet about 10 times a year to explore causes of injustice, to pray that unjust situations might be changed for the better and to work for justice at home and abroad. We organise liturgical and social events to increase awareness of these issues among others and to raise funds to provide practical assistance for those in need. Anyone interested in Catholic Social Teaching warmly welcome. Contact Lesley McKenzie 01636 814721.
The SVP is an international Christian voluntary organisation. We visit and befriend senior members of the parish and other members of the local community in their residential homes, hospitals or other places of abode. We provide practical assistance at local and regional levels and fund-raise in a variety ways, through coffee mornings, cake sales and plant sales. We have a link with the Children's SVP Camp at Mablethorpe, Lindon. As a group of parishioners we meet once a month at OLV for an hour and are accountable to the National SVP committee, and providing regular reports to the District President. If you are interested in joining or would like more information please contact Catherine Cowley (secretary) at or Marguerite Asker (President) at or 01636 812686.
